Course Description
This four-day course provides a comprehensive guide to designing and implementing MARSSIM (Multi-Agency Radiation Survey and Site Investigation Manual)-based decommissioning surveys. Participants will learn key decision-making processes for planning, conducting, evaluating, and documenting radiological surveys to demonstrate compliance with dose- or risk-based regulations.
Key Learning Objectives
- Overview of radiological survey types
- The Data Quality Objectives (DQO) process
- DCGL modeling and background reference area selection
- Survey instrument detection sensitivity and area classification
- Statistical survey design, measurement uncertainty, and data evaluation
- Updates and changes to MARSSIM guidance
Through expert instruction and practical exercises, attendees will gain the skills needed to confidently apply MARSSIM principles to building surface and surface soil final status surveys.
