Radiation Effluent Monitoring Overview

Course Description

This 1-day course provides an overview of key aspects of monitoring radioactive effluents from nuclear power plants including noble gas, iodine and liquids.  Radiation monitor principals of detection and operation will be covered for gas-flow, scintillation, and solid state detectors and how they are used in effluent monitoring. Key guidance documents on effluent monitor design and operations will be discussed along with normal range and accident range.

Key regulatory standards for effluent monitoring and sampling, and calibration of effluent monitors will be discussed. Discussion will include current and legacy radiation monitoring system manufactures and industry lessons learned on effluent monitoring.
